Seats
The majority of 3 wheel double buggies start life as single pushchairs, but some models can be converted to accommodate a second seat or carrycot using adapters (these are typically more common in tandem buggies). You'll also see that some models allow you to add a ride-on board for older children who wish to walk but still need some assistance.
If you're looking for a lightweight alternative that's ideal for city streets, check out the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to maneuver and comes with a large basket that is full of storage. It can be used for twins beginning at birth and accepts two car seats or a carrycot with seat. The seats have to face forward and there is no space to store bags of groceries under the seat. You will require an extra sidepack.

Suspension
The quality of the suspension on a triple buggy is crucial to how easy it will be for you and your baby to push. A smooth ride is essential because babies feel every bump in the road, particularly if it's in rough terrain such as grass or dirt roads. Some models have locking front tires that help maneuver and get over obstacles like curbs.
Certain models come with air-filled tyres that are ideal for all-terrain riding, however they are susceptible to punctures. Make sure you keep an extra set of tyres inside the trunk. Some models have gel or foam tyres that are designed to withstand bumps and are less susceptible to punctures, however, you might find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable on your child's back should you decide to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath took the Urban Glide 2 through its tests with her newborn and 3 year old, and found that it coped really well on difficult terrain: "it navigated effortlessly over bumpy pavements and grass cobbles, dirt tracks and cobbles easily and was able to manoeuvre around corners and climb up and down kerbs. Folding
A 3-wheel double buggy folds pretty easily to be stored. There are options that fold flat and stand up (as though they were in the shape of a pushchair) and others that are able to open up to reveal more umbrella-style folding, with the option of a hand-operated break. The more wheels the buggy has, in general the easier it will be to maneuver through rough terrain. This is especially true if your wheels are larger than typical size. You will have more stability, and it's less likely that you will have to flip or tip your child.
The iCandy Wave is a popular option. It can be used in conjunction with an infant car-seat as early as birth and then transformed into a double buggy side-by-side when your child is old. It is a lightweight option that is easy to push. It also comes with a bumper bar as well as rain cover.
Another alternative is the phil&teds sport, which is future proof since it's great as a single buggy from day dot and then adapts to take 2 (or even three!) All of this is contained in its small footprint. It has an innovative three-wheel design that includes a sling for better manoeuvrability and stability.
